Better Books was founded a quarter of a century ago by the late Howard Welchman. He was the first bookseller in the United Kingdom to specialise in dyslexia. Over the course of the following 17 years, Howard built a successful publishing and distribution company, operating from Chelsea Road, Bath, until illhealth forced his premature retirement.

Whilst the publishing rights were quickly picked up by other companies, the loss of the distribution side created a vacuum, until this side of Better Books was purchased by Peter Wilkes and started operating from its present location.

In 2008 Peter Wilkes retired from the business and we are now in the process of revamping the web site and introducing a new range of digital "e-books" for download to compliment our traditional stock.

Thank you again for your support over the years - we look forward to serving you for many more to come!
